Acme Township Waterfront Park Master Plan and Visioning

R. Clark Associates, Inc. (RCAI) was hired to develop a Preliminary Waterfront Park Master Plan for the shores of East Grand Traverse Bay in Acme Township and determine public support for a potential township park expansion. Initially a thorough site inventory and analysis was created to identify the sites opportunities and constraints. This included synthesizing the township’s general geographic data with aerial photography and site photos to identify view corridors, existing buildings, and access to the site. Finally RCAI facilitated a public visioning session jointly with the Acme Township Shoreline Preservation Advisory Committee to gather public input and measure the general public’s support for expanding their current township park. Several data collection techniques were utilized to answer specific questions regarding the site, prioritize a list of potential recreation activities, and identify important public concerns. Resulting from RCAI’s involvement the township had a Preliminary Waterfront Park Master Plan which they could utilize for future fundraising purposes.
