Children’s Garden at the Traverse Area Library
Traverse City, Michigan
R. Clark Associates, Inc. (RCAI) was hired to coordinate efforts of volunteer landscape architects, develop a detailed site plan based on the volunteers’ concepts, and generate detailed construction drawings for the creation of the Grand Traverse Area Children’s Garden adjacent to the Traverse Area District Library. In addition to design services, RCAI provided construction observation to ensure the quality of the garden’s construction reflected the original designs.
In 1999, the Children’s Garden – with its interactive sundial, living willow house, and variety of theme gardens for visitors of all ages – was selected by the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) as a featured project in ASLA’s 100 Years, 100 Parks program.
