New Designs for Growth Development Guidebook (Revision of the Grand Traverse Bay Regional Guidebook)

New Designs for Growth retained R. Clark Associates, Inc. (RCAI) to aid concerned citizens and area officials in the recreation of the Grand Traverse Bay Regional Guidebook – a guide to designing developments which complement and enhance existing settlements within a five-county region. Following substantial research and public survey analysis, the RCAI team proposed content and layout recommendations to enhance the effectiveness of the site-design reference manual. With over ninety percent new material, the Guidebook includes both preventative and proactive approaches to development in the region, and a majority of the techniques are applicable to both new development and to redevelopment projects. The RCAI team worked closely with an advisory committee to ensure the Guidebook would reflect the diverse needs of the region. The New Designs for Growth Development Guidebook better demonstrates how thoughtful, quality design can improve our rural, suburban, and urban environments by creating sustainable developments of economic value that protect our natural resources.
