R. Clark Associates, Inc. Recognized with Outstanding Planning Award.
Traverse City, MI (October 17, 2007) - R. Clark Associates Inc. and Borealis Design have been recognized with the 2007 Outstanding Planning Project Award for the New Designs for Growth Development Guidebook at the Michigan Association of Planning Annual conference.
The Guidebook is the result of a collaborative effort by Russell L. Clark, AICP, RLA, Dustin M. Christensen, BLA, and Rebecca M. Houghtaling, MUP, of R. Clark Associates, Inc. along with Dean Connor, RLA of Borealis Design. R. Clark Associates, Inc. was also recognized in 2006 by the Michigan American Society of Landscape Architects for the New Designs for Growth Development Guidebook which received the Landscape Architecture Research & Communication Merit Award.
The New Designs for Growth Development Guidebook was created to educate government officials, developers, and local citizens on landscape architecture and planning techniques and best management practices in order to obtain development that is environmentally sensitive, economically beneficial, and socially equitable. Recognizing that many readers may be unfamiliar with landscape architecture and planning terminology, the Guidebook uses language that can be understood by a wide range of readers. The Guidebook is an essential tool in regional efforts to preserve and enhance the environment, visual character, fiscal responsibility, and general quality of life for the Grand Traverse Bay region (Antrim, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska and Leelanau Counties).
